History
The Beginning
UniSoma Mathematics for Productivity S.A. was founded in 1984, with company majority belonging to Miguel Taube Netto, professor at the Mathematical, Statistical and Scientific Computation Institute (IMECC) of State University of Campinas (UNICAMP).

One of the first activities pursued by UniSoma was the development and implementation of PLANFLOR, Long Term Forest Planning System. Based on a mathematical programming model, and developed for mainframe, the System allowed the automatic generation of optimized plans for forest management at companies such as CVRD and Belgo Mineira in the 80’s.
Still in the 80's, UniSoma created PLANCORTE, a model used for scheduling and configuring Paper Reel Cuts. By means of Combinatorics Optimization techniques, PLANCORTE provided around 50% reductions in losses due to job scheduling for portfolio fulfillment. Some of the PLANCORTE licensing contracts, such as Ripasa and Grupo Simão, where elaborated under risk models, for which UniSoma's remuneration was strictly tied to the effective gains perceived by the companies. In this case, the most profitable for the new company.
Growing

In 1989, UniSoma started a long and successful partnership with SADIA. The main result of this joint effort was PIPA, Integrated Poultry Production Planning System. PIPA consists of a set of modules used in Poultry Production Planning, from strategic and tactical, to operational. The tool gave support to integrate the several areas that makeup the Supply Chain for Poultry Production: Vertical Agricultural Integration, Slaughterhouses, Logistics and Sales. SADIA calculated and associated a US$ 50 million dollar benefit during 1992 to 1994 to PIPA.
The success in the practical use of the mathematical techniques used in PIPA resulted in interntional recognition: in 1995, SADIA received the Franz Edelman Award for Management Science Achievement.

The award is granted by two North American organizations: INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Science) and CPMS (The College for the Practice of the Management Sciences). The Franz Edelman is awarded annually to public and private organizations that stand out in the deployment of innovative and economically significant Scientific Management and Operations Research techniques.
The Consolidation
Since 2000, UniSoma consolidated itself as a major national company in the development and deployment of computer applications for integrated planning systems in the industrial, agribusiness and logistics areas.
In 2007, UniSoma Matemática was restructed. As a consequence, UniSoma Computação Ltda. was born. In this business model, R&D and new lines of business are maintained by UniSoma Matemática. Software Factory management and the continuation in already dominated lines of business are administrated by UniSoma Computação.
